Snow Guns in Vysočina Arena going full gas
Thanks to chilly weather, snow guns in Vysočina Aréna have started up again on Monday after more than two weeks. Forecast promises quite good conditions allowing artificial snowing up until December 5 at least.
At the beginning of November there were few successful nights which allowed the organizers to pile up a heap of snow on the parking lot at the Ski Hotel. They also managed to snow up the stadium. “Approximately twenty percent of the produced snow melted off the heap. The heaps at the stadium also lasted though it warmed up considerably. Now we continue with work which we have begun two weeks ago,” as Jan Skřička, a member of the organizational committee, stated.
Lack of snow should not present a threat to the World Cup taking place there in December. “It is because we have thousands cubic metres of technical snow stored in our snow depot at the foot of Harusák Hill,” the race director Jakeš remarked.
Organizers are ready to distribute snow from the reservoir in compliance with further development of weather in upcoming days.
The Biathlon World Cup will take place in Nové Město na Moravě from December 15 to 18. Its programme features sprints, pursuits and mass start races. European Junior Championship is another biathlon event which will take place in Vysočina Aréna from February 2 to 5.
