BIATHLON WORLD CUP IN NMNM WITHOUT FANS AGAIN
BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon will take place in Nové Město na Moravě without spectators. COVID-19 pandemic closed the gates to fans in 2020, and the current situation will not allow them to be opened this year, either. A difficult epidemiological situation is not only in the Czech Republic, but in the whole Europe, and so the stands will have to stay empty again.
However, the actual races will take place. The 2020/2021 World Cup event in NMNM was granted a dispensation by Czech authorities, and will take place as planned from March 4 to March 14, 2021.
The 8th and 9th World Cup rounds will be held under strict hygienic and safety conditions: only athletes, coaches, team members, IBU representatives, the media, jurors and organizers will be granted access to Vysočina Aréna. All of them must present a negative PCR test, and regular testing will be compulsory for everyone.
“Fans were hugely important for reputation of biathlon events that take place in Nové Město na Moravě. This is why we regret that they cannot be here with us again just like last year. We hope that our biathlon family will meet at World Cup events in future years, though,” said Jiří Hamza, the president of Czech Biathlon Union and the chairman of the organizing committee.
In this moment, we can guarantee that tickets will be compensated for to spectators, whom we would like to ask for patience. A statement regarding further steps to be made in this respect will be published soon on the website of our distributor’s website (www.Ticketlive.cz), on the organising committee website (biathlonnmnm.yashicadev.cz) and on the Czech Biathlon Union website www.biatlon.cz.
World Cup event will also také place in Nové Město na Moravě from February 27 to March 5, 2023. In 2024, the Arena will host World Championships for the second time, and World Cup events will be held here in the two subsequent years, too. We believe that these will be supported by thousands of fans cheering from the stands of Vysočina Arena!
