Soft wind and warm rays of sun have been caressing the Vyso\u010dina Ar\u00e9na in the recent days. Spring is coming soon, yet the winter season is still in full swing for biathletes. Hard training sessions before the 8th<\/sup> round of BMW IBU World Cup were underway in Nov\u00e9 M\u011bsto na Morav\u011b on Tuesday, March 2, as the races start in two days. Thursday will present Women 4 \u00d7 6 km Relay Competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Czech Republic will welcome athletes from more than 30 countries. \u201cAbout 500 persons are accredited for the red team zone, which is a usual number when compared to the previous events in Nov\u00e9 M\u011bsto,\u201d said Vlastimil Jake\u0161, the Chief of Competition. \u201cAthletes from all prominent biathlon countries will be here; only one tiny party from New Zealand have excused themselves from the event,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vyso\u010dina Arena has been sealed tightly, the tracks are fenced and guarded by a security agency. \u201cWe divided the whole grounds into three fundamental zones. I have already mentioned the red one that is reserved for teams; the blue one is for organizers and jurors, the yellow one is for the media,\u201d the Chief of Competition explained. The number of organizers and auxiliary staff was reduced as much as possible. \u201cThe fact that fans are not allowed to come to the races made the situation easier for us. Viewed from this perspective, it is rather paradoxical,\u201d said Jake\u0161.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tracks are in good condition despite the current warm weather. At least a meter of snow covers all tracks and the stadium. \u201cWe did not want to underestimate anything, also because the FIS Cross-country World Cup had been planned to take place here originally. The winter has been cold, and this enabled us to work on the tracks and prepare them well. Even our snow depot is so full that it will provide us snow in two subsequent winters to come,\u201d Vlastimil Jake\u0161 said with a smile.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Czech national team have nominated nine racers. The women\u2019s category will present the recent World Champion in the Individual Race Mark\u00e9ta Davidov\u00e1. The other female athletes are Lucie Charv\u00e1tov\u00e1, Jessica Jislov\u00e1 and Eva Puskar\u010d\u00edkov\u00e1. Michal Kr\u010dm\u00e1\u0159, Ond\u0159ej Moravec, Jakub \u0160tvrteck\u00fd, Adam V\u00e1clav\u00edk and Milan \u017demli\u010dka are the Czech men to start into the race. \u201cWe take it for granted that the starting roster could change in the 9th<\/sup> round of the World Cup series that will take place in the Vyso\u010dina Arena next week,\u201d said Ond\u0159ej Ryb\u00e1\u0159, the Sports Director of the Czech Biathlon Union. \u201cWe might invite some juniors from the Junior World Championships that are currently taking place in Obertilliach, if they manage to achieve good results.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
